The heart and soul behind Three Pines Outdoor and Nature Play, Rochellie Lywin is a passionate educator with a rich background and inspiring journey. A proud BIPOC educator of Spanish-Filipino heritage, Rochellie brings a unique perspective shaped by her cultural roots and deep connection to nature.
A Journey to Early Childhood Education
As a wife and mom of three, Rochellie understands the importance of outdoor exploration and play in a child’s holistic development. After over 15 years in the oil and gas industry, she made the life-changing decision to stay home with her children while her husband worked full-time. Driven by her desire to supplement her family’s income while staying present with her kids, Rochellie ventured into early childhood education—something entirely new to her.
In 2020, she launched her day home program, which within the first year began to incorporate a focus on outdoor play and nature-based learning. While uncertain at first, she quickly realized her love for working with children and the impact of creating meaningful learning experiences. Over time, she embraced the idea of play as a powerful tool for learning and growth, eventually shaping her approach around outdoor and nature-based learning as a core philosophy.
A Commitment to Professional Growth
Rochellie is a Certified Lead Forest and Nature School Practitioner and a Level 3 Early Childhood Educator. She graduated with distinction in Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) and continues to deepen her knowledge through webinars, workshops, and conferences focusing on forest and nature play, outdoor education, and early learning. Her expertise and enthusiasm shine through in her work, fostering children’s love for learning and exploration.
A Passion for Nature and Learning
Growing up in the Philippines, Rochellie spent her childhood immersed in the outdoors, which instilled a lifelong appreciation for nature. Today, she channels this passion into her work with children, creating enriching experiences that support growth through hands-on discovery. She firmly believes in the transformative power of nature to inspire creativity, resilience, and problem-solving in children.

When she’s not facilitating outdoor adventures, Rochellie embraces nature herself through camping, quadding, and dirt biking. During visits to the Philippines, scuba diving allows her to reconnect with the ocean and her roots. These personal adventures fuel her passion for the natural world and inspire her to create meaningful opportunities for children to explore and connect with nature.Through Three Pines Outdoor and Nature Play, Rochellie strives to create a space where children can flourish, families can connect, and everyone grows together in their appreciation of the environment. Inspired by her Filipino heritage, she infuses warmth, hospitality, and a deep respect for the community into every aspect of her work.
